One of the best garden perennials. Plants form clump of silver, fern-like foliage that produces large, flat, flowerheads on stiff stems. Long blooming plant for cut and dried flowers.

Companion Plants
At home in the formal border, wild garden, or meadow. Good middle of the border plant for softening bold textures. Plant with liatris, iris, coneflowers, balloon flowers, rudbeckia, Russian sage, lychnis and red pokers.

Best Location
Very hardy and easy to grow in sunny, well-drained site. Tolerant of poor soil and summer drought. Zone 3-9.
